Thank you for visiting Courtney's Crusade. This site is dedicated in loving memory of Courtney VanCronkhite, who died August 10, 1999 after sudden cardiac arrest caused by Long QT Syndrome.

Since 2000, our goal at Courtney's Crusade has been to raise awareness in the community on the best ways to combat sudden cardiac death. Research shows that the key to survival in many cases is early defibrillation through the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Sadly, there are still many schools and public places that do not have access to this life saving device. Courtney's Crusade has held an annual fundraiser since 2001 with the specific goal of raising funds to purchase AED's for placement in our community. In these short years we have raised over $200,000 and have placed AED's in schools and public buildings throughout Texas. With your help and ongoing support, we continue to grow every year, and the more we grow, the more lives we can help save.

Courtney's Crusade was founded by Courtney's family shortly after she died. Courtney's identical twin, Kindel, wanted to create a living legacy for Courtney, thus providing the vision and foundation for what is Courtney's Crusade today. In these few short years, both Courtney's Crusade and Kindel have been honored by People Magazine, Columbia Records and Maybelline Cosmetics in their 'Born to Make a Difference' Campaign, have been chosen as one of the recipients of Halliburton's Annual Charity Golf Tournament., and were featured in the August 2006 issue of Southern Living Magazine.

2006 was an exciting year for us. Courtney's Crusade made the largest ever AED contribution from a private foundation to the city of Houston's PAD program by donating 20 devices to be used in public places throughout the city. Mayor Bill White issued a proclamation that declared September 30 to be Courtney's Crusade Day! We also gained our first corporate sponsor, international oil and gas supply company, Schlumberger.

We are growing steadily and it has all been because of people like you, partnering with us in our efforts to save lives! Please plan on joining us on October 13th at Grisby Grill in Houston, Texas for the 6th annual Courtney's Crusade! Thanks for stopping by and please take a few moments to look through our site.
