Courtney VanCronkhite died on August 10, 1999 from sudden cardiac arrest caused by Long QT Syndrome.
Our goal at COURTNEY'S CRUSADE is to begin the process of educating and empowering the Houston community at large in the crusade to stop sudden cardiac death. Each year it claims the lives of a quarter of a million people in the United States alone and kills one adult every one to two minutes. Early defibrillation is the standard of care for the victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Thanks to technological advances leading to the development of the automated external defibrillator (AED's), this goal has become easier to achieve. AED's are lightweight portable devices that analyze heart rhythms and determine if a shock is needed. They are easy to use, safe and effective. By placing AED's in schools and public buildings throughout Houston, together we can save thousands of lives every year.
Please help us EDUCATE, EMPOWER, & OVERCOME SUDDEN CARDIAC DEATH.
It can strike anyone, anywhere, anytime. We believe the citizens of Houston deserve access to this critical lifesaving treatment.
